One of the best parts of my job is watching families grow. I met the Henzel family last year when they wanted to get pictures of their little boy Brady. Now there's a precious and gorgeous little girl in the family! Haley is one of my tiniest new friends at only 5 weeks old. In between some burps, hiccups, feeding and a nap...this is what we captured in the Henzel home. Welcome to the world sweet baby.
And take a look at my brand new baby announcement cards! There are several more designs, as well as really sweet Christmas cards. I'll post a bunch of examples on my blog soon. What do you think?
Big sister Stella would like to introduce the birth of her baby sister Anita! This was my final session in Maryland and the goal was to capture images for Anita's birth announcements. I can't think of a better way to show how much Stella is enamored with her lil' sis. When she kissed Anita's cheek, she would pop up with the loudest "MUAH!"
And I've got to tell you this hysterical story! Stella, who I want to stress is only 2 years old, was apparently paying close attention to the details of our photo session. Their mom told me that the next day, Stella wore her hair in a headband and ponytail (my lazy hairdo), pretended her toys were cameras and looked around for her lens cap (a frequent habit of mine). I guess I better be careful with what I say and do around little kids! :) Here's my favorite part. She also told her mom that I live in Hannah Montana. What a fun shoot with sweet (and funny) girls.
Taking pictures is something I like to call telling stories. My interest in photography started in college while I was writing features for local newspapers. I fell in love with the way photojournalists captured spontaneous, natural and emotional moments. There's no "cheese." No random props. No awkward poses. When you're looking at a portrait, you shouldn't be looking at a picture. You should be looking at a person.
It's never too early to start planning for your Christmas card! I'm now booked until mid-January for sessions. For Christmas orders, my deadline is November 25th so please get your orders in as early as possible! And if you're interested in what my holiday cards look like, here's a look at some from last year!
The outside of a trifold card (the guy in this card - Jason Johnson - is actually the one who designed all of these cards! He's the best!) the inside...
Hello there! I want to know who is stopping by to browse. Who are you? :)
