The Sivumaki Family
This session was done shortly after Christmas, when everyone was home for the holidays. While this time of year is already emotional enough, it was extra emotional because some family members were about to move far away from Montana. They wanted me to capture their family - just as they are. No funny poses or planned outfits - just them being a family. The first picture was taken in front of the very first home built in Great Falls! The rest of the images just came naturally. It was a true honor to spend time with this family as they embark on big life changes. And after spending time with them, I know that even though some family won't be close in proximity...they won't be far away.

Taking pictures is something I like to call telling stories. My interest in photography started in college while I was writing features for local newspapers. I fell in love with the way photojournalists captured spontaneous, natural and emotional moments. There's no "cheese." No random props. No awkward poses. When you're looking at a portrait, you shouldn't be looking at a picture. You should be looking at a person.
It's never too early to start planning for your Christmas card! I'm now booked until mid-January for sessions. For Christmas orders, my deadline is November 25th so please get your orders in as early as possible! And if you're interested in what my holiday cards look like, here's a look at some from last year!
The outside of a trifold card (the guy in this card - Jason Johnson - is actually the one who designed all of these cards! He's the best!) the inside...
Hello there! I want to know who is stopping by to browse. Who are you? :)
